Foreign Risperdal News
Risperdal is a drug that is prescribed worldwide. While prescription medications stay under strict scrutiny by government agencies in this country, tragically, patients outside of the United States may remain unaware of the harmful side effects associated with the drug. However, other vigilant countries are aware of Risperdal’s dangers and have taken steps to protect their citizens.
In 2004, the Committee for the Safety of Medicines (CSM) in the United Kingdom acknowledged the risks of Risperdal in an issued statement. The CSM warned that Risperdal and other atypical antipsychotics should not be given to elderly patients with dementia. This warning was in response to evidence that linked adverse cerebrovascular events such as stroke to this population.
Although the United Kingdom has only taken a small step towards informing the public of Risperdal dangers, it is possible that even minimal effort may ultimately save lives. It is likely that as more stories are presented of negative Risperdal side effects across the globe, foreign Risperdal information will become more prevalent.
